St. Louis Community Foundation Announces First Round of Grants to Local Non-Profit Organizations Leading Tornado Relief Efforts

In response to the devastating EF3 tornado that struck on May 16, 2025, the St. Louis Community Foundation established the St. Louis Disaster Relief Fund to support nonprofit organizations providing critical aid to individuals, families, businesses, and neighborhoods affected by the storm.

An advisory committee comprised of trusted community leaders identified three immediate greatest needs in impacted communities: Housing and Shelter, Moving and Storage Assistance, and Food Insecurity, with a special focus on Hot Meal Distribution and Pick-Up.

Following close collaboration, we are proud to award grants to the following organizations:

  • Academy of Sherman Park Neighborhood Association
  • American Red Cross – St. Louis
  • Better Family Life
  • Currency of Caring
  • Dream Builders 4 Equity
  • Salvation Army
  • St. Louis Area Food Bank
  • St. Paul AME Church
  • The 4theVille Response
  • The People’s Response
  • Urban League of Metro St. Louis

Over the past few weeks, the swift decision of these organizations to self-deploy has ensured that urgent needs across North St. Louis are being met promptly and with compassion. Looking ahead, the advisory committee will continue to assess greatest needs and determine how to distribute grants moving forward.

We are deeply grateful for the generous support of our community partners, which has made it possible for us to provide these grants.  As recovery continues, so does the need. If you are interested in joining us in our intermediate and long-term efforts, donate to the St. Louis Disaster Fund by visiting stlgives.org/donate or calling (314)588-8200.

Together, we can and we will rebuild St. Louis.
