2025 asked St. Louis a hard question: when the ground shifts beneath a community, who shows up? You did.

Thousands of donors, nonprofits, and neighbors answered, moving together and meeting every need with generosity. That’s a community that stands for its people, again and again.

Letter from President and CEO & Board Chair
Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the St. Louis Community Foundation, thank you for your  extraordinary generosity, vision, and partnership. Your commitment to philanthropy and confidence in the Foundation made this a truly historic year.

Together, we distributed an unprecedented $115 million to nonprofit organizations and community initiatives throughout the St. Louis region and beyond. But this milestone represents far more than a financial milestone. Behind every grant is a story of hope, opportunity, and positive change—a student receiving educational support, a family finding stability, a neighborhood rebuilding, an arts organization enriching our
cultural landscape, or a nonprofit gaining the resources it needs to expand its reach.

You made these stories possible.

As the Foundation celebrates its 111th year, we are reminded that our greatest strength has always been the generosity of the people we serve. For more than a century, individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and community partners have entrusted us with helping turn their charitable goals into meaningful and lasting impact. That trust is both an honor and a responsibility we never take for granted.

This year’s record-breaking grantmaking supported education, housing, economic mobility, health and human services, youth development, the arts, disaster recovery, and countless other causes. It strengthened organizations, encouraged innovative ideas, and provided critical assistance when our neighbors needed it most.

Our role is to help turn generosity into action. As a trusted philanthropic partner, convener, connector, educator, and steward of charitable resources, we help fundholders respond to emerging challenges and support the causes that matter most to them. We also work alongside nonprofit, civic, business, and philanthropic leaders to encourage collaboration and advance a stronger St. Louis region.

While we are proud of what we achieved this year, we know the work continues. The needs within our community remain significant, but so do the opportunities to create lasting change. As we look toward the Foundation’s next chapter, we invite you to continue this journey with us.

Thank you for believing in St. Louis, believing in the power of philanthropy, and allowing the St. Louis Community Foundation to serve as your trusted partner.

This record-breaking year was possible because of you. We look forward to continuing this work together.

With our deepest gratitude,

Dr. Kelvin R. Adams

Stories of Our 2025 Impact

Respond

When St. Louis Showed Up.

On May 16, 2025, an EF3 tornado tore through St. Louis, leaving the heaviest damage in North St. Louis City.

Within three days, the Foundation launched the St. Louis Disaster Relief Fund — built to fill the gaps that other aid couldn’t reach and put dollars directly into the hands of the organizations already on the ground. Donors responded immediately and nonprofits mobilized.

Deepening Our Commitment to the Community

The St. Louis Community Foundation is aligning philanthropic resources into two key drivers of regional success: economic mobility and youth connections. As we concentrate our resources in these areas, we leverage the expertise and knowledge of our staff, advisory committees, and community partners to positively impact the individuals, families, neighborhoods, and systems that need it most.

In 2025, our grants focused on 4 key areas: workforce programs, home repairs, financial education and communities with the highest needs.
