David Karandish: Bridging the Digital Divide
“I learned code and web design using an old computer my dad brought home from work,” says David Karandish, technology entrepreneur and digital philanthropist.
“Access to technology is essential – it changed the trajectory of my life.”
It did indeed. After studying computer science and entrepreneurship at Washington University, Karandish embarked on his entrepreneurial path, first by developing and acquiring websites – including Answers.com. His latest venture, Capacity.com, is dedicated to incorporating artificial intelligence at the enterprise level.
Bridging the digital divide defines much of his philanthropy and passion these days. “I want to give kids, regardless of where they live, the same opportunities I had,” David says. “Kids can create technology and consume it. Instead of using the next great app, I want them to develop it.”
