A community foundation is a collection of funds established by a wide range of donors, including individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits. Each fund is a reflection of the charitable interests of the donor. Community foundations make grants to charitable organizations from these funds. There are more than 800 community foundations across the United States.

We are committed to our fundamental roles of helping donors create personal legacies, investing donor funds for maximum returns with minimum risk, and playing a leadership role in tackling our communities’ most challenging needs.
Over $770 million has been granted from the St. Louis Community Foundation since 1974. Over the last five years, the Community Foundation and its donors have contributed over $590 million to nonprofits, initiatives, and regional efforts.

Give STL Day, powered by the St. Louis Community Foundation, is an online day of giving that takes place in May each year. It is designed to ignite the spirit of giving across the region and support causes in the St. Louis area where we live, work and play.
