Give STL Day Spotlight: HavenHouse St. Louis
HavenHouse St. Louis is a hospital-hospitality house with the mission to provide the comfort of home and community to patients and their families traveling more than 25 miles to receive medical care.
HavenHouse provides reduced rate lodging, meals and transportation to 19 St. Louis regional medical facilities, and support services to patients of all ages with any medical condition, according to HavenHouseSTL.org.
Surpassing their goal by $673, HavenHouse STL raised a total of $15,673 and is able to use the extra funds to continue to assist the St. Louis community.
“HavenHouse St. Louis participates in Give STL Day because it gives us an opportunity to rally together with other organizations in our area to raise funds for our cause as well as it is gives us a different approach to encourage our supporters to donate,” Volunteer Manager Heather Libhart said.
HavenHouse focused on creating campaigns for their primary needs: meals for the families, help with transportation costs, funding for a night’s stay for a family, and hospitality baskets for long-term guests. HavenHouse STL utilized the non-profit tools offered through GiveSTLDay.org, and raised $2,311 that were dedicated to one of these primary needs.
“We scheduled posts on Facebook and sent out email blasts and we made sure we had content to post throughout the day for Facebook as well as LinkedIn. We also made sure our supporters knew about the Power Hours and how they worked,” Libhart said.
With all of the generous donations HavenHouse STL received they will be able to provide 500 meals to guests, cover the cost of a one-night stay for 130 families, assist with transportation to and from the hospital, and provide snacks and essentials for our patients and families.
HavenHouse STL is the region’s only hospital-hospitality house that provides full-service support to patients of all ages and conditions and their family members who are facing a medical crisis. Each year, they provide services to 8,000 people (3,000 patients and their family members).
“Our experience with Give STL Day was awesome! We always feel supported and love being a part of this day every year. We will definitely participate again!” Libhart said.
