Give STL Day 2019 Registration Now Open
Today’s the Day! The St. Louis Community Foundation joined the #GivingTuesday movement by opening Give STL Day 2019 registration on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
So what’s the Difference between #GivingTuesday and #GiveSTLDay?
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday; this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back. This year, #GivingTuesday featured 1442 nonprofits from Missouri. Of the 1442 participating organizations, 384 of the nonprofits were from the St. Louis area.
Powered by the St. Louis Community Foundation, #GiveSTLDay is a 24-hour, online day-of-giving event that takes place in May of every year. #GiveSTLDay is designed to ignite the spirit of giving across the St. Louis region and to bring our community together. Since its inception in 2014, Give STL Day has raised over $10 million for regional nonprofits and has become a LOCAL movement that celebrates philanthropy. Donors, how can you get involved in #GiveSTLDay?
Create a Campaign: Donors have several ways to get involved and support nonprofits on #GiveSTLDay. Beginning January 3 – April 30, 2019, donors can create “Personal Campaign Pages” to support their favorite nonprofits.
Personal Campaign Pages provide a way for you to raise money on behalf of any nonprofit organization featured on givestlday.org. This feature allows donors to create custom web pages with pictures, video, and a personal appeal.
Once the page is set up, donors can share it with their friends and family by posting on social media, sending emails with a link to their personal page on givestlday.org and asking them to help them reach their goal by making a donation. Personal Campaign Pages make it easy to help nonprofits garner more support than what you alone can give.
Preschedule a gift: Donors have the opportunity to preschedule as many donations to as many nonprofits as they wishing between April 2 – April 30, 2019 by simply creating an online donor account. During the prescheduling period, donors enter their credit/debit card information, designate the organizations they want to receive gifts, and the amount to each, and the gifts will be made and recorded on #GiveSTLDay, May 1, 2019.
Donate on May 1, 2019: Beginning at midnight on May 1, 2019, donors can log on to givestlday.org and make a minimum donation of $10 to any participating nonprofit.
In 2018, Give STL Day received more than 20,000 individual donations and raised $2.4 million for 868 nonprofits. Since inception in 2014, Give STL Day has raised over $10 million for regional nonprofits.
