A RECORD YEAR OF GIVING FOR 2019 GIVE STL DAY
$3 MILLION RAISED FOR HUNDREDS OF REGIONAL NONPROFITS
ST. LOUIS (May 2, 2019) – Once again, generous St. Louisans dug deep on Give STL Day and raised $3 million for 843 participating local nonprofits, according to officials at the St. Louis Community Foundation, which introduced the concept to the St. Louis area six years ago. The event’s fundraising total eclipsed last year’s results by 25 percent.
It’s an event that has come a long way. The first Give STL Day in 2014 raised $1.1 million for 528 nonprofits. Since then, the effort has generated a total of $13 million for nonprofit organizations in the metro area.
This year, 24,100 individual donations were received over the course of the 24-hour period that
began at midnight on May 1. As they did in 2018, ThriVe raised the most money during the event, bringing in $181,500 with 173 individual and matching donations.
“This year was a record year by almost every measure – hourly contributions were up significantly and nonprofit interest and public engagement seemed especially strong,” said Amelia Bond, president and CEO of the St. Louis Community Foundation. “We were thrilled as we watched donors from O’Fallon, Mo., to O’Fallon, Ill., – and all points in between – step up and contribute to the hundreds of charitable organizations that do so much for our area. What an amazing day of giving!” Helping add to the enthusiasm and excitement during the 24-hour period were sponsored Power Hours, which helped boost nonprofit contributions at designated times, and random ticket drawings to sporting events for donors.
In addition to the St. Louis Community Foundation, which served as the event’s presenting sponsor, the following organizations also lent support to the 2019 Give STL Day effort: Archford Capital Strategies, TD Ameritrade, US Private Wealth Management – U.S. Bank, the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, Nestle Purina, Maritz, the Missouri Foundation for Health, the Boniface Foundation, the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Surge.
