Response to Hurricane Harvey

Dear Friends of the Foundation,

Our hearts go out to the many people in Houston and other Texas and Louisiana communities who are affected by Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. The widespread devastation in Houston and along the entire Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana is nearly impossible to imagine. The rain has stopped, but flood waters continue to rise, which means many months of cleanup and rebuilding ahead.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Donations from the public are needed to help offset the cost of the extraordinary emergency response and recovery services required during — and following — the storm.

Greater Houston Community Foundation
After receiving an overwhelming number of inquiries from citizens and companies who want to help, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, has established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which will accept tax deductible flood relief donations for victims that have been affected by the recent floods. The fund is housed at the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

Greater New Orleans Foundation
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, in partnership with the Greater New Orleans Foundation, reactivated the NOLA Pay It Forward Fund for those who wish to contribute to recovery efforts.

Like you, our thoughts are with those in Texas and Louisiana who lives are affected by this terrible storm. We are always heartened by the St. Louis region’s response to crises, both local and national, and as ever, we appreciate your generosity.

Foundation Fund Holders: You can make a grant from your fund for response efforts using DonorCentral or by contacting Wendy Witte at wwitte@stlgives.org

Sincerely,
